You want how much to be in your fe$tival?!

Even with the advent of digital technology it still takes a fair amount of money to make a good film and I spent most of mine making this one. Therefore, I want to let everyone know that we will be offering posters and DVDs of the film in return for donations toward offsetting the cost of festival submissions. The average festival submission is $30 and there are currently almost 3000 festivals to choose from on the Withoutabox website. Obviously I’m not planning on submitting to all of them but I think it’s easy to see that the cost of getting Rectify out to film loving audiences can add up quickly. All donations will be used for submitting the film and a calendar of festivals that Rectify and The Addict get accepted into will be made available on the blog. While we will be able to accept credit cards at the premier, cash or checks are preferred. The donation levels will be as follows:

Helping Hand - $3+ → 5″x7″ poster

Pitching In - $5+ → 11″x17″ poster or 5″x7″ poster

Piece of the Action - $15+ → Collector’s Edition Rectify DVD

Got Yur Back - $18+ → Collector’s Edition Rectify DVD and your choice of poster

Big Kahuna - $20+ → Collector’s Edition Rectify DVD and both posters

On the DVD:

  • Rectify
  • The Addict
  • Director commentary for Rectify
  • Production stills
  • English subtitles
  • Spanish subtitles
  • A hidden Easter egg for even more cool stuff!

  1. Congrats dude! Put me down as a Big Kahuna!

  2. Sweet, thanks! See you there.

  3. Dan, you might consider calling your Feb 23rd showing a “sneak preview” or “cast and crew screening” instead of a premiere. Festivals place a good bit of value on hosting the world/US/regional premiere of a film, so if you’ve already held the “world premiere” elsewhere then their incentive to program your film is lessened. Sounds dumb, but it’s true.

  4. stomptokyo, thanks for the heads up but I think we are OK in this area since this is in fact a private gathering. To the best of my knowledge in order for a world/US/regional premiere to “count” it needs to be a public event like a festival. Otherwise the world premiere actually happened last week in my apartment. =)
